Ruby L. Cope, 85, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, January 28, 2002 in the Hennis Care Center at Dover.
She had worked for 22 years as secretary for the First United Methodist Church at Dover.
Born August 16, 1916 in Carroll County, she was daughter of the late Isaac & Myrtle Parker Lumley.
Ruby was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Dover having been active in the Lois Circle, Glowing Embers and United Methodist Women, as well as serving on several committees. She also was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, and Reliable Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed playing Bridge in several different clubs, crocheting, and enjoyed being there for her family.
Survivors include: two daughters; JoAnn & John Dehl of New Philadelphia, Janie & Jim Hershberger of Dover, three grandchildren; Tracy & Danny Long, Rachel Lamonica, Chip & Missy Hershberger, great grandchild; Sidney Long.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death a brother, Bert Lumley and a sister, Elizabeth Lumley.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 31 at 10:00am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Rev. Dr. David M. Oliver and Pastor Jim Borton officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery at Carrollton. Friends may call in the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8pm.
