Ruby Loretta Massarelli

Ruby Loretta Marchione Massarelli, 82, of New Philadelphia passed away Saturday evening, December 28, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton.

Born on December 17, 1931 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Arcangelo and Carmela Tristano Marchione. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Dennison with the class of 1949. On June 16, 1951 she married the love of her life, Stanley J. Massarelli at St. Elizabeth Church in Roswell. The couple celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary shortly before he passed away on September 3, 2006. She is also preceded in death by her uncle, who helped raise her, Anthony "Tony" Tristano; brother, Anthony "Rocky" Marchione; and her beloved son, Gregory Massarelli.

Ruby worked as a Deputy Clerk for Tuscarawas County Probate Court for over 27 years. After her retirement, she worked part time for Space & Space Law Office along with vounteering for the RSVP program and Birthright. She was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, where she was a member of the Loyal Ladies Christian Benevolent Association (LCBA), Altar Society, and the Sacred Heart Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Tuscarawas County Democratic Women and the Red Hat Society.

She had a strong Catholic faith which was visible in her daily life. Her faith, family, and friends were most important to her. She was an avid Notre Dame Fan, Central Catholic supporter and enjoyed watching Big Time Sports games and shows. Her grandchildren were the center of her life and she enjoyed attending their many activities.

Ruby will be sadly missed by her daughters; Cynthia Sue (Charlie) Jones of New Philadelphia, Sally Jo (David) Fadorsen of Dover; sisters, Pauline Smith, Gloria Talarico, JoAnne Marchione all of Canton; brother, Dean (Polly) Marchione of Norfolk, VA; daughter in-law, Susan Massarelli of Bexley, Ohio; grandchildren, Dr. Blake (Dr. Krystie) Jones of Elmhurst, IL, Angelina and Salvatore Fadorsen of Dover, Mary Massarelli of Bexley, Kym (Brian) Jordan of Littleton, CO ; great grandchildren, Brody and Aidan Jordan of Littleton, CO; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 10:30 am with Father Jeff Coning officiating. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. A meal will follow at St. Ambrose Hall. Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Christian Wake service will take place on Thursday at 8pm.
