Russell C. Luthy

Russell C. Luthy, 80, of Dover, Ohio died Tuesday, July 10, 2001 at Union Hospital following a brief illness.

Russ retired in 1983, as an employee of the Twin Cities Concrete Company where he worked for over 25 years.

Born July 3, 1921 in Dover, he was the son of the late Charles J. and Clara Beatty Luthy.

He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church at Dover, Life Member of the Dover Elks Lodge, member of the Dover Moose Lodge and the Dover VFW. He was a 1939 graduate of Dover High School and served in the US Coast Guard during World War II.

Russ was an avid Dover sports enthusiast where he was a member of the Dover Tornado Club and was the scoreboard keeper in football and the timekeeper in basketball for many years. He was also a former high school basketball official.

He was preceded in death by his wife Janice Schumacher Luthy who died March 14, 1981.

He is survived by his daughter and son in law Polly and Rick Prince of Dover and his two granddaughters Heather Prince of Dublin and Jamie Prince of Dover.

He is also survived by one brother, Lemoyne (Betty) Luthy of Dover and two sisters, Janet (Robert) Phillips and Joan (Eugene) Miller both of Dover and his sister in law, Jo Luthy of Dover along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Luthy.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. Brian Nunnally officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday anytime after 2 pm with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 pm.
