Russell J. Keller, 86, of Dover passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014 at New Dawn Health Care Centre in Dover.
Born in Dover on May 14, 1928, he was the son of the late Carroll M. and Blanche (Coventry) Keller. Russell was a graduate of the Dover High School class of 1946. He married Patricia Sims who preceded him in death on July 20, 2002 following 54 years of marriage. He is also preceded in death by two brothers; Fred and Ralph Keller; and his infant daughter, Barbara Marie Keller.
Russell retired from Western Branch Diesel, which was formerly Ray C. Call, following 28 years of service. He later retired for a second time at the age of 80 transporting people at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center. He was an active member of the Winfield United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school for 18 years, and held many positions with the United Methodist Men. He enjoyed flying and was a member of the Beach City Airport Pilot Association.
He will be missed by his son; Walter (Vicki) Keller of Dover; grandson, Derek Keller (fianc, Lindsay Frazier) of New Philadelphia; great grandchildren, Russell and Mark Keller of New Philadelphia; step-grandchildren, Dan (Stephanie) Price of New Philadelphia, Joe (Jenn) Price of New Philadelphia, Jennifer (Todd) Callentine of Dover, 14 step great-grandchildren, and two step great great grandchildren; sister, Enid Wallace of Mineral City; sisters in-law, June Keller of Dover, and Shirley Kishbaugh of Zanesville.
A celebration of Russell's life will take place at Winfield United Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 11:00 am with Rev. LuAnne Youngman officiating. Interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dover. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served in the church fellowship hall. Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 6-8pm.
