Russell V. Reiger

Russell V. Reiger, 95, of Dover died Monday, July 14, 2014 in the Community Hospice House.

Born October 16, 1918 in Dover he was a son of the late John and Nettie Schlemmer Reiger. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.

He proudly served his country during WW II with the United States Army. Russell retired in 1982 from Dover High School as a Custodian after 25 years of service. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the VFW, both of Dover.

Russell is survived by his wife of 73 years, Catherine Sommers Reiger whom he married on June 28, 1941; daughter, June (Francis) Wisselgren of Dover; son, Gary (Ann) Reiger of Strasburg; sister, Rose (Bob) Gardner of Strasburg; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 16 at 1:30 pm in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens with Pastor Dotty Hartzell officiating. There are no calling hours. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements.
