Ruth A. Dunkle, 90, of Stone Creek, died Monday, July 26, 2010, in New Dawn Retirement Community, Dover.
Born February 23, 1920 in Dover, she was a daughter of the late George D. "Duke" and Belle Edwards Strickmaker. Ruth attended school in Dover, and on July 14, 1940, married Harry E. Dunkle. She was a loving homemaker, and enjoyed making quilts, which she did for her son and each of her grandchildren. Ruth also liked to travel, especially the east coast of the United States, but had also visited Spain, the Canary Islands, and Aruba.
Survivors include her son, Gary (Cheryl) Dunkle of Stone Creek; two grandchildren, Michael (Jerri) Dunkle of New Philadelphia, and Christine (Paul) Parrish of Port Washington; four great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Nicole Dunkle, and Haley and Heather Parrish; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, in 2008; a brother, Eugene Strickmaker; and by an infant sister.
Family and friends are invited to attend a service honoring Ruth and for the committal of her cremated remains on Monday, August 2, at 12 p.m., in Dover Burial Park, with Rev.
