Ruth A. Polce, 77, of 127 Phoenix Drive N.W., Dover, Ohio died Wednesday, December 3, 2003 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover following a six year courageous battle with leukemia.
Ruth was a waitress at the former K.D. Espenschied�(TM)s Restaurant in Dover for twenty years. She also worked for Grandma Zifer�(TM)s Pizza Shop at Dover and a former employee of the Times Reporter.
Born November 9, 1926 in Uhrichsville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Emanuele C. and Faustina Torghele Costa.
Ruth was a member of the St. Joseph�(TM)s Catholic Church at Dover. She attended Uhrichsville High School and was a member of the Dover VFW Auxiliary. She loved baking and cooking and was known for her kindness and love of people. She was a friend to all.
She is survived by her husband, Rocco J. Polce with whom she celebrated 55 years of marriage on October 9.
She is also survived by her daughter, Rebecca A. “Becky” Walters of Perrysburg, Ohio; two grandsons Ryan M. (Rebecca Sue “Becky”) Walters of Arlington, Ohio and Patrick S. Walters of Columbus. Two step great grandsons Tyson and Tyler Spence; Two sisters Amelia “Millie” Joyce of New Philadelphia and Carolyn “Caulie” Angelo of Dennison and a sister in law, Lorena Costa of Uhrichsville along with many nieces and nephews and her special friends, Sandy and Mike Rubino of Dover.
She was preceded in death by her brother, William “Bill” Costa.
A funeral mass celebrating Ruth�(TM)s life will be held Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 1 pm in the St. Joseph�(TM)s Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Friday (today) from 5-8 pm and Saturday from noon until 12:45 pm.A Christian Wake service will be held Friday at 8 pm in the funeral home.
