Ruth E. Colgan

Ruth E. Colgan, 95, of Dover and formerly of Youngstown died Friday, September 27, 2013 in the Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia.

Born April 12, 1918 in Clymer, Pennsylvania she was the only child to the late Dalvin and Mame Smith Lamer. Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband and high school sweetheart, Wilbur Colgan on October 17, 1993; daughter in law, Carol Colgan and a grandson, Shawn Colgan.

Ruth was a member of the Boardman United Methodist Church and the Sarah's Circle. She was also a former Campfire Girl Leader and a member of the Poland Extension Club.

Ruth will be sadly missed by her children, Allan Colgan and his companion, Carol Jones of Columbus and Colleen (Michael) Connor of Dover; grandchildren, Christian Colgan, Matthew (Jill), Andrew and Thomas Connor; great grandchildren, Shawn and Savannah Colgan and Daniel Connor; niece, Karen Fahs; nephews, Roger (Eleanor) Anderson and Dennis (Lynn) Anderson.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, October 15 at 2:00 pm in the chapel at Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Samaritans Purse c/o Tornado Victims at PO Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607-3000.
