Ruth E. Heidy

Ruth E. Heidy, 101, of Altercare of Noble Pond in Canton and formerly of Dover went home to be with the Lord Thursday, December 2, 2010.

Born January 23, 1909 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Ellen (Gardner) Swinderman.

Ruth was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Dover and active in the women's prayer group. She also formerly attended the Grace Eva. Lutheran Church in Dover. She was an 84year member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge of America. She had previously been active in the Dover Senior Center. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Howard F. Heidy who died February 25, 1982 along with five brothers, Roy, Ralph, Donald, Walter and an infant brother and four sisters, Stella Swinderman, Helen Lenz, Irene Kelly, and Hazel Rollins and a great grandson, Max Charles Hoffer.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter Barbara (husband, Roger) Diehl of Massillon; two grandchildren, Keri (husband, David) Hoffer of Jackson Twp., Ohio, and Gregory (wife, Donna) Dressel of Charlotte, North Carolina; four great grandchildren, Molly Hoffer, Amanda Redman, Zachary and Alec Dressel and two nieces, Patty Ricklic and Brenda Cleaver both of New Philadelphia.

Funeral services celebrating Ruth's life will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 2pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor David Wing and Rev. Dr. Bruce Roth officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-2pm. Ruth's family would like to especially thank her many loving caregivers at Altercare of Nobles Pond and In House Hospice for their loving kindness and compassionate care.
