Loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend Ruth Evelyn Johnson, 80, of Dover, died Thursday, March 3, 2005 in Union Hospital.
Born August 28, 1924 at Moundsville, WV, she was the daughter of the late David E. & Clara Holmes Blake.
Evelyn was a member of the New Philadelphia Church of Christ. She was always on the go and enjoyed a variety of activities that included: baking, gardening, sewing, traveling, and solving jigsaw puzzles. She was also formerly active with the Brandywine Grange.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred G. Johnson, who died on December 22, 1991.
Survivors include: two daughters, Linda (Frank) Miller of Dover, Ruth Hayden and her companion Larry Zuchegno of Dover; a son, Alfred Kenneth “Kenny” Johnson of Dover; four sisters, Ada Cooper of Dover, Letha Burkhart of New Phila., Erma (Ron) Howe of Florida, and Wilda (John)Thomas of New Martinsville, WV; a granddaughter, Malinda Hockenberry and her fiancé Beau Stull; and three step-grandchildren, Kevin Miller, Kenny Miller and Kellie Rominger.
In addition to her husband and parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Blake and an infant son, Charles Johnson.
Evelyn�(TM)s life will be celebrated in a ceremony held Monday, March 7, at 2:30 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Rev. Tim Hatfield will officiate. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Following the burial, the family will receive friends at a reception held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
Friends may call in the funeral home at Dover on Sunday from 2-6 p.m.
