Ruth F. Halter

Ruth F. Halter, 91, of Dover died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Union Hospital.

She had retired in 1980 from the United Way after 15 years of service. She had also previously been employed at Midway Lumber Company and Reeves Steel Company in Dover.

Born March 6, 1918 in Dover she was a daughter of the late Walter and Helen Geib Miller. Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband Ray E. Halter who died on August 23, 2002 and a sister, Grace Thomas.

Ruth was a member of Grace Lutheran Church; Mary Bear Circle, Altar Guild and the quilting group. She enjoyed keeping in touch with her friends, and always look forward to spending Saturday nights with the Saturday Night Bunch Club. But most importantly, her family came first, taking care of her children and grandchildren were her first priority.

A wonderful and loving mother and grandmother, Ruth is survived by her sons, Kenneth (wife, Glenda) Halter of Kent and David (wife, Suzanne) Halter of Denver, Colorado; a daughter, Peg (husband, David) Dessecker of Strasburg; grandchildren, Adam Halter of Kent, Hayley (husband, Tom) Clark of Stow, Neal Halter of San Francisco, Dr. Elaine (husband Brent) Stickrath of Denver, Colorado and Kai (wife, April) Dessecker of Dover; step grandchildren, Matt Dessecker, Wendy Dupler and Anthony Dessecker; one great grandson, Thomas Clark and sister, Kathleen McCoy of Bolivar.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Leland Eilert and Dr. William C. Haggis officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends can call in the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
