Ruth K. Crowell

Ruth K. Crowell, 86, of Dover, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, in Hennis Care Centre, Dover.

Born Sept. 30, 1919, in Florence, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Tommy and Nora Foust Gooch. Ruth graduated high school, and, on May 3, 1941, married her sweetheart, Lloyd W. Crowell, in Sheffield, Alabama. The couple moved to Dover in 1947.

Ruth�(TM)s life revolved around her family and doing everything she could to make a happy home. In later life, she was especially fond of spending time with her grandchildren. A couple of Ruth�(TM)s hobbies were sewing and traveling �" even if traveling only meant a trip to Canton, she was up for it. Ruth was a long-time member of the Church of Christ in New Philadelphia.

Survivors include four sons, Lloyd W. (Susan) Crowell, Jr. of New Philadelphia, Tom O. (Toni) Crowell and Jim L. (Dianne) Crowell, both of Dover, and Harry L. (Donna) Crowell of New Philadelphia; eleven grandchildren, Melissa Crowell of Beach City, Julie Whyel of Wooster, Shannon Crowell, Michelle Ash, Melanie, Mathew and Chris Crowell, all of New Philadelphia, Jamie Steiner of Ragersville, Courtney DiGenova of Dover, Jim E. Crowell and Stacey German, both of New Philadelphia; eight great-grandchildren, Nick and Chelsea Specht of Dover, Chevy Ash and Kaylee Rubright, both of New Philadelphia, Brian Whyel of Wooster, Madison and Mason Steiner of Ragersville, Brooklyn Crowell, and Hailey and Hannah Kohler of New Philadelphia; a sister-in-law, Lillie Gooch of Dover; and a nephew, Arlie Gooch, Jr., also of Dover.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lloyd, on Jun. 5, 2005, and by two brothers.

Ruth�(TM)s life will be celebrated in a service Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Tim Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park.
