Ruth Krantz Warther, age 96, a life-long resident of Dover, died peacefully in her home, Sunday, Jul. 29, 2012.
Born Dec. 4, 1915, in Dover, she was a daughter of Edward and Margaret Joyce Krantz. Ruth graduated in 1932 from St.Joseph High School, and on Jul. 1, 1940, married Donald C. "Donnie" Warther. The couple had three children and were married sixty-seven years before Donnie's passing on Jan. 15, 2008. Ruth was employed by the J.C. Penney Co. in Dover for many years, both as a salesperson and in the catalog department. In her retirement years, she served as a volunteer at Dover's Park Village Health Care Center.
Ruth was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover, the church's Christian Mothers, Loyola Study Club and Senior Citizens group. She especially enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and family, traveling with Donnie in their motor home and sitting with Donnie enjoying a Manhattan on the back porch. She led a wonderful but simple life and was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Survivors include her two daughters, Ann (Joe) Gamber of Malvern, and Kathryn "Kitty"(Tom) Dindo of Akron; her son, Paul (Ellie) Warther of Laguna Niguel, CA; her nine grandchildren, Jessie (Joe) Held, Jacob (Kelly) Gamber, Joanne (Zack)Barnard, Carl (Maggie) and Paul (Abbie) Dindo, Joyce (Sean) McKinniss, Keith(Sarah), Phillip and Michael Warther; and her ten great-grandchildren who gave her so much joy in recent years.
In addition to her parents, and Donnie, Ruth was preceded in death by her two sisters, Joyce Haga and Marcella Parson; and by her brother, Max Krantz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., inSt. Joseph Catholic Church, with Fr. Matthew N. Hoover officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the church's Family Life Center. Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Monday, Aug. 6, 5:30 8p.m. There will be a brief prayer service at the close of calling hours on Monday.
