Ruth M. Brown, 84, New Philadelphia, died Sunday, November 20, 2011, evening at her home on the family farm.
Born April 21, 1927 in Tuscarawas, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Irven C. and Lula (Wiseman) Eichel.
Her husband, Orlo K. Brown died November 22, 1991, they were married April 20, 1946 in Sherrodsville.
Ruth was a member of the New Cumberland United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was member of the Fairfield Grange where she was secretary for many years and served as a cashier in the County Grange Eat Stand at the Tuscarawas County Fair for over forty years. Ruth was a continuous supporter of the Jr. Fair Dairy Products sale for 24 years. She was instrumental with the operation of the family farm for many years.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was looking forward to the birth of her fifth great grandchild this year in December.
Ruth is survived by her four children: Janice (Howard) Cronebaugh of Stone Creek, Dean L. (Peggy) Brown, Marvin D. (Deborah) Brown of New Philadelphia, and Clifford E. (Jennifer) Brown of Scio;
Thirteen grandchildren, Jeffery (Jonna) Cronebaugh, Steven (Sarah) Cronebaugh, Janelle Cronebaugh of Stone Creek, Jennifer Smith, Debbie (Paul) Stewart of New Philadelphia, Willard "Bill" (Leslie) Brown of Dover, Neal (Suzette) Brown, Karen (Jason Maurer) Brown of New Philadelphia, Orlo K. (Caran) Brown, Curtis Brown, Eric Brown of Scio, Emma Brown of Washington D.C. and Joseph Sanders of Massillon.
Eighteen Great Grandchildren: Reed, Sawyer and Sophia, Sybil Cronebaugh, Robbie, Jimmy, Tony, and Dillon Collins, Heather (Will) Hawkins, Jonathan, Daniel, Arizona, Nadine Stewart, Sunny Thomas, Croft Brown, Carter and Colton Brown, Leah Brown.
Three Sisters: Betty Ross, Louise (Willard) Dessecker, Donna (Paul) Lahmers, and brother, Fred (Karen) Eichel, Brothers-in-law Willard Brown and Edward Brown.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Vera (Penick) Eichel, grandson, Brian Brown, and great-great grandson, Gabriel Shively.
A service celebrating Ruth's life will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 1:00 pm in the New Cumberland United Methodist Church with Rev. Ted Knapp officiating. Interment will be in the Holmes Church Cemetery. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Friday from 5-8 pm.
