Ruth M. Cooley

Ruth M. Cooley, 92, a lifelong resident of Dover died Monday, October 6, 2008 in the Park Village Health Care Center following a period of declining health.

Born November 5, 1915 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Charlotte (Pfeiffer) Hagloch.

Ruth was an employee of the former M&K Grocery in Dover.

She was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover. She was a founding member of both the Dover Historical Society and the Dover Literary Club. She was a 1933 graduate of Dover High School and in her earlier years, she was active as a Brownie and a Cub Scout Leader and was involved in the PTA.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Cooley who died February 5, 1994. They were married for 52 years.

She is survived by three children John A. "Jack" and (Jane Pletcher) Cooley of Columbus, Dan (Sandy) Cooley of Dover and Maggie Taylor of Atwood Lake. Four grandchildren Tricia (John) Ramser of Mineral City, Benjamin (Heather) Cooley of Dover, Gretchen (Travis) McClelland of Dover and Adam Cooley of Columbus; two brothers Cliff (Norma) Haglock of Dover and Richard (Norma) Hagloch of Columbus along with five great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her son in law, Tom Taylor and four brothers and five sisters.

A funeral service celebrating Ruth's life will be held Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 2:30pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Rev. Michael Lowry officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00pm-2:30 pm.
