Ruth Priebe

Ruth Priebe, 78, of Dover, died Friday, August 8, 2003 in the Park Village Health Care Center.

She had served as Administrative Assistant to then Senator Bill Ress, and had also been employed by WJER Radio.

Born December 13, 1924 at Dover, she was daughter of the late Donald Tawney and Goldie (Striker) Tawney Lykens.

A 1942 graduate of Dover High School, Ruth attended the First Church of the Nazarene at New Philadelphia. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, and working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles. In addition, Ruth was an active volunteer with the Tuscarawas Senior Center and Hospice of Tuscarawas County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex J. Priebe, who died March 13, 1998.

Survivors include: two sons; Stanley (Patricia) McIlvaine of Austin, TX and Charles “Chuck” McIlvaine of Westerville, a daughter; Judy McIlvaine of Columbus, two sisters; Norma J. Arnold of Mesa, Arizona and Anna Mary (Dale) Bayer of Dover, brother; Donald D. (Lou Jean) Tawney of Midvale, two grandchildren; Matt McIlvaine of Oklahoma and Sean McIlvaine of Texas, great grandson; Matthew Lee McIlvaine, Jr. and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Tawney.

In keeping with Ruth�(TM)s wishes her body will be cremated.

A service celebrating her life will be held Wednesday, August 13, at 2:00 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Rev. Terry Kidd officiating. Interment will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery immediately following services.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
