Ruth Virginia Hunker

Ruth Virginia Hunker, 84 of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, April 28, 2002 in Union Hospital.

She retired after more than 20 years of service from the former Schwartz-Klines store where she had worked as a clerk. She also previously worked for U.S. Quarry Tile at East Sparta.

Born March 7, 1918 at Dover, she was daughter of the late Edward & Bertha Ziegler Archinal.

Ruth has been a member of Faith Cathedral at New Philadelphia since the church began nearly 25 years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Hunker, who died October 20, 1989.

Survivors include: son; Thomas & Barbara Hunker, Jr., three grandchildren; Sherri and Don Longenette of Canton, Samantha and Skip Hanenkrat of Dover, Joshua Hunker of Dover, two great-grandchildren; Summer Longenette & Chloe Hanenkrat.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 1, at 10:30am in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Pastor Russ Rodojev officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8pm.
