Ruthie L. Petrella

Ruthie L. Petrella, 86, of Dover died Saturday, September 12, 2015 in the Park Village Health Care Center.

Born March 2, 1929 in Dennison she was a daughter of the late Charles and Jessie Richardson Thomas. Ruthie was also preceded in death by her husband, John Petrella on April 18, 1997; brother, Charles Thomas and sisters, Phyllis Wallace, Betty Romig and Verda Bonneville.

Ruthie was a 1947 graduate of Dennison High School where she was the head majorette. She retired from Gray Drug Store in Dover after 31 years as a retail clerk. Ruthie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church who enjoyed puzzles and baking. She was also an avid sports fan who loved following the Dover Tornadoes, Cavs and Browns.

Ruthie is survived by her children, John (Debra) Petrella and Pam (Paul) Douglas; sister, Orrie Gean Tidrick all of Dover; grandchildren, Melanie, Amber, Rich (Shelly) and Jessie (Jayson); great grandchildren, Sophia, Peyton, Nolan and Brayden.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 15 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Following the burial, a luncheon will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 pm with Christian Wake services starting at 7:45.
