Sam W. Tschantz, 89, of Dover passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Park Village Health Care Center.
Born on April 30, 1926 in Dover, he was the son of the late Elmer and Edith (Welsch) Tschantz. He is also preceded in death by his infant son; Tommy Tschantz, and his daughter in-law; Debra Tschantz.
He was a 1944 graduate of Dover High School. He honorably served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. On April 6, 1947 he married the love of his life, Ruth Ann Bair.
Sam retired in 1989 from General Electric in Dover following 37 years of service. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover where he was involved with of the Men's Fellowship. He was also a member of the Dover Elks and VFW.
Sam enjoyed spending his spare time fishing and woodworking. He was an avid sports fan. He loved all animals, especially dogs.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Ruth, of 68 years, daughter; Samara Tschantz (Larry Miller) of Minnesota; and his son; Rudy Tschantz of Dover.
A celebration of Sam's life will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 11:00 am with Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. Internment will take place at Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military honors. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served in the St. John's United Church of Christ fellowship hall. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday, November 30, 2015 from 5-7pm.
