Sandra J. "Sandy" Edwards

Sandra J. "Sandy" Edwards, a long-time accountant for HARCATUS Head Start, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Aultman Hospital, Canton. She was known for her dedication to her career and her kind-hearted nature.

Sandy was born on October 24, 1965, in Dover, a daughter of the late James "Pete" and Maryella Diefenbacher Edwards. She graduated from Dover High School and pursued her undergraduate studies at Kent State University. Her passion for learning led her to earn a master's degree in business administration from Ashland University.

Sandy genuinely cared for others. She formed lasting friendships and enjoyed getting together with friends whenever possible. One of her favorite pastimes was watching movies and series on Netflix; she appreciated the art of storytelling. Animals held a special place in Sandy's heart. Her rescue dog, Bentley, brought immense joy into her life. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandpuppies and showered them with love.

Sadly, Sandy faced the difficult battle of cancer in recent years. Despite the challenges she endured during this time, she tried to maintain normalcy and not to let the disease affect her.

Sandy is survived by her  loving children: her son, Jordan Demattio of New Philadelphia, and her daughter, Amanda (Donte) Stewart of Canton. They were not only fortunate to have had a remarkable mother, but also grateful for the valuable life lessons she passed on to them. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Sherer and her brothers, Daniel (Mardi) and James (May) Edwards. In addition to her immediate family, Sandy leaves behind a legacy that extends further to the lives of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Monday, September 18, from 5 - 7 p.m. Directly afterward, a private service will be held for her immediate family.
