Sandra Y. Immel, age 85, a longtime resident of Dundee, passed into the presence of her Savior on November 27, 2023, at Oak Pointe Nursing and Rehab Center in Baltic, Ohio.
She was born in Canton, Ohio on February 28, 1938, to the late John and Betty (Bash) Bose. Sandra was valedictorian of her Dundee High School senior class. After graduation, Sandra married Duane Immel on June 3, 1956. They had celebrated 64 years together before Duane’s passing in 2020.
A faithful wife, mother and beloved “Nana," she was a hardy farmer’s wife and retired as a postal clerk after working at the Dundee and Sugarcreek post offices. As a member of First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek, she enjoyed serving as a sixth grade Sunday school teacher.
Sandra loved gardening, riding her John Deere gator, mowing on her John Deere tractor, planting flowers and caring for her farm animals. She was fond of birds, watching and feeding birds, especially her hummingbirds.
She made many cherished memories with her children and grandchildren on the farm, on various trips, at Disney World and at Dunkirk Church Camp in New York. A wonderful cook and host, she planned meaningful Christmas gatherings for her family for many years. Family will always remember her witty, spirited and strong nature.
Sandra is survived by her daughters, Connie (Bill) Ray, Janine (Mike) Flood, Lynne (Matt) Johnson, Laura (Sam) Sulzener and a son, Todd Immel. Also surviving are her sisters, Linda (Charles) Davis, Sherri (Terry) Garber; 10 grandchildren, Sarah (Jason Bell) Ray-Bell, Nathan (Melissa) Ray, Stephanie (Zach Grubb) Flood, Jason Flood, Whitney (Jeff) Kaufman, Kate Miller, Amy (Andie) Raber, Savannah (Aullie) Bigby, Jackson Sulzener, and Alexander Immel; and 14 great-grandchildren, Alaina, Cora, and Tessa Bell, Quinn Flood, Raine, Cyrus and Eve Kaufman, Alice and Addison Raber, Sullivan, Lylah and Sawyer Ray, Braelyn Sulzener and Samuel Bigby.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents John and Betty, her husband Duane and her beloved son “Rick.”
In honor of Sandra's wishes, a private Celebration of Life will be held by her family at a later date.
Special thanks to Hospice and the Oak Pointe staff for their tender care; and her sisters, Linda and Sherri who visited her faithfully.
