SANDRA L. SHORES

An angel rose to heaven to be with her Heavenly Father. Sandra L. Shores, 73, of New Philadelphia passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Union Hospital, of cardiac arrest, surrounded by her family. Sandra fought a long battle with diabetes and most recently, dialysis.

She is survived by her longtime love and caretaker of 56 years, Jack D. Shores; her son Mark Shores and wife Yuni of Warner Robins, Georgia and her daughter Tammi Everett and husband Robert of Dover. Three grandchildren who meant more to her than life Tiffani Everett of Athens, Georgia, JoHonna Shores and Lucas Shores of Warner Robins, Georgia. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and cousins including a special cousin Bill (Deanna) Geib of Dover.

Sandra was born September 5, 1938 in Shanesville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Clayton and Ruth (Finzer) Fisher. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Fred Fisher.

Although she was a certified medical assistant and had coordinated customer relations for Midwest Offset in the past, she was primarily a homemaker. She delivered mobile meals for several years. She was a charter member of the Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority. Despite her vision and mobility handicaps, she always maintained a good positive attitude and everyone who knew her liked her, she had no enemies. Her greatest joy was doing for others and spoiling her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends but never forgottem. Sandy was a longtime member of former South Moravian Church and the First Moravian Church in Dover.

A service celebrating Sandy's life will be held Monday, January 30, 2012 at 11:00am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor John Wallace officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum at the Dover Burial Park. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
