Sara B. Kamban, age 81, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, in New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover, following a brief illness.
Born Feb. 19, 1931, at Fairmont, WV, she was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Mabel Floyd Wenger. Sara attended school in Fairmont, and then moved to Ohio. She was employed by The Timken Co. at Canton for over twenty years, retiring in 1995 as an inspector. In her spare time, Sara enjoyed gardening especially growing flowers, reading and traveling.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Kamban, whom she married on Nov. 22, 1980; two daughters, Karla (Dan) O'Connor of Rio Verde, AZ, and Marla (Gary Tedrick) Burgess of New Philadelphia; two sons, Kevin Burgess of New Philadelphia, and Keith (Christine) Burgess of Columbus; a step-son, Shane Kamban of Uhrichsville; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary (John) Brink of West Lafayette, Carol (Manass) Troyer of Louisville, Sheila (Doug) McPeek of Midvale, and Lovie (Bill) Jones of Chicago, IL; a brother, Chester (Sandy) Wenger of Carrollton; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Burgess, in 1967; a grandson; four sisters; and one brother.
A private funeral service will be held in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, New Philadelphia, with Dr. Steven R. Bailey of the First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia officiating.
