Sara M. Emig, 99, of Dover died Monday, September 12, 2011 at Union Hospital.
She retired from JC Penney's, in downtown Dover, after 15 years of service as a sales clerk.
Born August 16, 1912 in Dover she was a daughter of the late David and Mary Everett Pritchard. Sara was also preceded in death by her husband Errol E. Emig on January 2, 1983 and her brother, William E. Pritchard.
She graduated from Dover High School and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dover where she was active with the Lois Circle, United Methodist Women, Lunch Bunch Group, Glowing Embers and taught Sunday school for many years. Sara also enjoyed volunteering her time with the Dennison Canteen during WW II, Salvation Army, Hennis Care Centre and helping pack meals with Mobile Meals for 23 years. She was also a member of the Tuscarawas Valley Chapter of AARP, A.H. Bridge Club, Past Chief of the Pythian Sisters, Past President of the Women's Benefit Association, Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and was also active in starting the PTA in the old Second St. School.
Sara is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Carol) Emig of Mesa, Arizona.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover where a celebration of Sara's life will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev.
