Saundra K. Roe

Saundra K. Roe, age 74, of Bolivar, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, in Aultman Hospital at Canton.

Born Jan. 21, 1938, at Dover, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Loretta Mason McCartney. Saundra graduated from Midvale High School in 1956, and was wed to Gary E. Roe on Oct. 24, 1957, in the Dover Bible Church on Front St. She was a devoted wife and mother - a homemaker, who also assisted Gary in the operation of the Rollercade in Dover's Memorial Hall.

Saundra was a former member of the First Christian Church at New Philadelphia, and presently belonged to the Salem Bible Church at Salem. She enjoyed doting on her grandchildren, reading, working crossword puzzles and caring for her dog, Lady (one of many over the years).

Survivors include her husband, Gary; a daughter, Kelly (Jeff) Sprankle of New Philadelphia; two sons, Ronald (Jan) Roe of Medina, and G. David (Donna) Roe of Bolivar; nine grandchildren, Ben, A.J. (Jessica) and Christina Roe, Andy Hess, Danelle (Scott) Simmerman, Brian, Michelle and Michael Roe, Katarina and Isabella Sprankle; two great-grandchildren, Kaylie and Sawyer; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Saundra was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Roe; and a brother, Donald McCartney.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Pastor Doug DeMar officiating. Immediately following the service, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
