Sherri L. (Brown) Weidman

Sherri L. (Brown) Weidman, 62, of Dover, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, while at Community Hospice House, after a bravely fought three-year battle with cancer. She is now whole and healed again, playing music in heaven, and no longer suffering here on this earth.

Sherri was born January 18, 1954, in St. Louis, Missouri, and moved with her family to Dover in 1962. She was a 1971 graduate of Dover High School, and a 1975 graduate of the University of Akron. She taught Music Education at Dover High School and in the Fairless School District, and retired from Horizons of Tuscarawas & Carroll Counties after 35 years of service.

Sherri was an accomplished keyboardist and vocalist, and loved using her gift of music to serve the Lord; she touched many lives with her music. For many years, Sherri was Music Director at Dover Alliance Church, of which she was a 25-year member. She also loved leading the Praise Team at the church, helping others worship the Lord, and being an Awana leader. Another of Sherri's favorite activities was being the keyboard player for the Tuscarawas Philharmonic Orchestra. She played for numerous weddings since the age of 14.

Sherri is survived by her husband, Philip Weidman; her daughter, Amanda (Brett) Weidman Wilcox; her step-daughter, Ann (Matthew) Weidman Kassos; her step-son, Michael (Vicky) Weidman; her grandchildren, Katherine, Elizabeth, Nicholas - and another on the way; her sister, Linda (Steve) Gray; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved cats, Callie and Gracie.

Her father, H. Clifford Brown; her mother, L. Jayne Brown; and her sister, Janet Brown Lecho, preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 22, at 11 a.m., in the Dover Alliance Church, with Pastor Richard G. Rose officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the church's social hall. Family and friends are invited to call at the church on Monday, November 21, 2 4 and 6 8 p.m., and an hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday.
