Shirley A. Hostetler, 69, of Dover, Ohio died Thursday, September 14, 2006 in Union Hospital at Dover following an apparent heart attack.
Shirley retired in 2004, as a Registered Nurse at Union Hospital where she worked for over 43 years. She spent 40 years in the Obstetrics Unit. She had previously been a nurse for the former Reeves Steel Company.
Born March 24, 1937 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Edith Miller Baumgartner.
Shirley was a member of the St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ in Dover. She was also formerly active in the CCL chapter and the Dover Mother�(TM)s Club. Following retirement, she volunteered in the MRI Center at Union Hospital. She enjoyed reading and was an avid Dover High School Sports fan.
She received her nursing degree from Massillon City Hospital School of Nursing and received additional training at Children�(TM)s Hospital Medical Center in Akron.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward E. Hostetler who died July 31, 2001. She was also preceded by a brother, Howard Baumgartner.
Shirley is survived by three children Andy (Patty) Gintz of Dover, Kris (Steve) Smith of Cincinnati, and Michael (Jennifer) Hostetler of Grove City, Pa., six grandchildren, Joshua (Kelly) Gintz, Jeremy Gintz, Jordan Gintz, Noah Smith, Hannah and Luke Hostetler; and one sister, Norma (William) Errington of New Philadelphia along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services celebrating Shirley�(TM)s life will be held Monday, September 25, 2006 at 11am in the St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ at Dover with Rev. Ed Shriver officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Sunday from 1-5 pm.
