Shirley Elizabeth Grafe, 85, passed away on November 30, 2023, at her home in New Philadelphia. She was born on December 26, 1937, in Dover, Ohio to Wade Everhart and Agnes Smith Gordon.
Shirley's warm smile and kind heart touched the lives of many throughout her lifetime. She was a diligent volunteer at Union Hospital for many years. Her dedication and selflessness in serving others were an inspiration to those around her.
She was a graduate of Dover High School. After graduation, Shirley embraced various interests that brought her joy and fulfillment. On June 16, 1990, she married Charles H. Grafe, who preceded her in death on May 6, 2001.
One of Shirley's greatest pleasures was indulging in delicious pasta dishes. Gathering at the Senior Center in Dover was a regular occurrence for Shirley as she enjoyed playing cards with her friends, and engaging in friendly competition while fostering deep connections. Additionally, she found solace in reading books.
Shirley had a penchant for classic westerns and animated cartoons. These simple pleasures brought brightness to her life and showcased her youthful spirit.
Alongside her numerous interests, Shirley deeply cherished her faith as an active member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dover. For many years, she dedicated herself to serving the church community by meticulously printing bulletins week after week. Her commitment showcased both her attention to detail and unwavering devotion.
Surrounded by loved ones, Shirley peacefully passed away at home. She will be sadly missed by her children; Debbie Crosby (Leo Smart) of Minerva, Gary (Terri) Page of Kentucky, Sue (Sam) Hershberger of New York, and Tammy Eichel of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Tina (Dan) Sanford, Steve Brown, Melinda Crosby, Trisha Crosby, Shannon (Nathan) Domeier, Brittany (Shane) Rosenbarker, Chuckie (Michelle) Woods, Delbie (Jennifer) Woods, Missy (Kenneth) Milburn, Nicole Wallick, Anne Hershberger, Michelle Hershberger, Chaz (Mandy) Willett, Shannon (Genn) Willett; her siblings, Nancy Blackson, Wade Everhart; half- siblings, Regina Laglease, Donnie Simmerman, along with multiple great- and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, and Charles, she was also preceded in death by her son, Rick Page; daughter, Patty Crosby; half sibling, Richard Simmerman; and son- in-law, Delbert Eichel.
Friends are invited to call at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 10:30 am until 11:30 am. A funeral service will be conducted by her son-in-law, Pastor Sam Hershberger at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at the Dover Burial Park.
