Stanley C. Kail

Stanley C. Kail, 89, of Dover, died peacefully Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, in Hennis Care Centre, surrounded by his loving family.

Born, Apr. 25, 1918, in Dover, he was a son of the late Leo Clyde and Alcie Willard Kail. Stanley attended school in Dover, and served in the Ohio National Guard between 1937 and 1940. He married the former Ida Weinman on Mar. 14, 1941, in the Moravian Church at Dover, with the Rev. Robert Geiring officiating. Stanley was employed by the A.J. Weigand Trucking Co., and later by the City of Dover, from which he retired in 1980

Stanley was a member of St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ at Dover, and was a life member of the Dover Elks. He also belonged to the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps, and was a social member of the Dover Veterans of Foreign Wars. Stanley enjoyed camping and woodworking, and loved to tell a good joke.

Survivors include his wife, Ida; a daughter, Marla (Marc) Cappell of Dover; five grandchildren, Terri Klapper-Hartman of Strasburg, Erik (Connie) Klapper of East Sparta, Marc William (Shannon) Cappell of McKinney, TX, Mindi (Paul) Von Kaenel of Strasburg, and Marcee Cappell of Portland, OR (with whom he shared a birthdate); nine great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Frank Klapper of Strasburg; and a niece, Charlotte Kastor of Dover.

In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Klapper; two sisters; and three brothers.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 28, at 1:30 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Rev. Michael W. Lowry officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia.
