Stanley Marazsky

Stanley Marazsky, age 85, of Dover, passed away Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, surrounded by his loving family in his Dover home.

Born April 16, 1932, in Masontown, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Bruno and Anna Pasko Marazsky. Stanley graduated from Masontown High School and went on to attend Waynesburg (Pennsylvania) College on a football scholarship earning his bachelor’s degree in accounting. He served honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his service time, on February 9, 1960, Stanley married Madge George. He was employed for many years by the General Electric Corporation, retiring in Dover as controller in 1992. In retirement, Stanley worked for the Zoar Village Golf Club – he loved the game of golf.

Stanley was a member of St. Joseph Church, the Elks Lodge (life member) and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Dover. In addition to golf, Stanley enjoyed bowling and visited daily with his friends at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center.

Survivors include his daughters, Stephanie (Robert) Wasem of Dover, Stacie (Eric) Hubbard of New Philadelphia, and Christine (Christopher) Burtch of Grove City, Pennsylvania; his son, Stan (Jill) Marazsky of Dennison; his grandchildren, Robby (Jill) Wasem, Rachael (Michael) Hagman, Jacob Wasem, Amos (Hannah) Hubbard, Dr. Abigail (Adam) Albright, Anna, Lily and Mary Burtch and James Marazsky (a great-grandchild expected in January); his brothers, Richard (Rita) Marazsky of Medina, and Ronnie (JoAnn) Marazsky of Uniontown, Pennsylvania; and his nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Jimmy Hatfield on Thursday, October 5, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Joseph Church, Dover. Interment will be in St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Wednesday, October 4, 4 – 7 p.m. A Christian wake service will be conducted at 6:45 p.m.

The family suggests that contributions in Stanley’s memory be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
