Stanley P. Mann

Stanley P. "Buck" Mann, 82, of Dover, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011, in Union Hospital, following a brief illness.

Born Mar. 20, 1928, in Dover, he was a son of the late Elmer and Margaret Swonger Mann. Buck attended Dover schools, and married the former Eleanor M. Rufener on Oct. 15, 1949, in what was then St. John's E. & R. Church, Bolivar. As a young man, Buck worked for a time in area brickyards, before being employed by the Eberhart Coal Co. of Dover, from which he retired.

Buck was a hard-working family man, who especially enjoyed his grandchildren when they came along. Some of his favorite past-times were gardening and working with wood, crafting such items as birdhouses, crosses and stars for Christmas.

Survivors include his loving wife, Eleanor; a daughter, Linda (Don) Rennicker; three sons, Jeff (Janie) Mann of New Philadelphia, and Mark and Kevin (Johnna) Mann, both of Dover; six grandchildren, Beth (David Ditto) Alborn of Sherrodsville, Greg (Becky) Rennicker, Lisa (Tom) Kazelman, Leslie (fianc, Jeremy Dreher) LaBarge, and Duane Mann, all of Dover, and Melissa (fianc, Matt Moore) Mann of New Philadelphia; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters, Arlene (Don) White of Dover, Doris Littleton of New Philadelphia, and Clara Caddell of East Sparta; two brothers, Harry (Norma) Mann of Dover, and John (Judy) Mann of Alliance; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Mann; a grandson, Jeffrey A. Mann Jr.; a sister, Hilda Mann; and by a brother, Howard Mann.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 25, at 1:30 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Pastor Duane L. Houser of Ruslin Hills Church, Dover, and Pastor Ray Ulrich officiating. Burial will be in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens, Dover. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
