Steven Bruce Hite, age 58, of Stonecreek and formerly of Strasburg and Dundee, Ohio was born on February 7, 1956 and passed away peacefully on May 26, 2014.
Steve was the youngest of nine children born to the late Burton and Dorothy (McCluskey) Hite.
Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising dogs, and fixing anything that was broken. He worked several years in the trucking industry as part of the "Buzzin Dozen," and known by the handle "opossum". He would later transition into construction for the last several years of his career. Steve was a great storyteller and always had a good story about hunting, fishing, or an embarrassing story about a family member.
He is survived by three children Justin (Kayla) Hite, Jarrod Hite, and Jessica (Dustin) Karl, grandson, Jaxon Karl and anxiously awaiting another grandchild; longtime companion, Tina Wright-Keffer and sisters, Betsy (Alan) Youngen, Carol (Charlie) Himes, Susie (Bill) Miller, Linda Ehmer, Vicki Hicks and Janet Landis.
In addition to his mother and father, Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Carpenter and brother, Burton (Buzz) Hite Jr.
At Steve's request, cremation will take place. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 5-8pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover. A private burial will be held at a later date.
