Steven Jon Middaugh, a beloved member of the community and owner of Middaugh Printers in Sugarcreek, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, October 23, 2023. He was 65 years old.
Born in Dover on December 6, 1957, Steve grew up immersed in his family business. From an early age, he dedicated himself to Middaugh Printers, a testament to his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment. As the current owner of the printing business, Steve carried on the legacy his family had built, ensuring its continued success.
He was a graduate of Garaway High School. Inspired by his family's entrepreneurial spirit, he embarked on a career that spanned decades in many different business ventures.
Beyond the world of printing presses and paperwork, he nurtured various passions and interests that brought him immense joy. Golf was one such passion for Steve; whether playing the sport himself or watching it on television, he found solace and excitement in its challenges. He took great pleasure in passing down his knowledge and love for golf to his cherished grandchildren.
Animals held a special place in Steve's heart, especially pugs.
However accomplished Steve was in his career or hobbies, nothing brought him more pride and happiness than his family. Steve and Linda shared a passion for all things mid-century and vintage and enjoyed finding treasures at auctions together. They also enjoyed taking walks in nature with their dogs. Steve and Linda just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Loren "Wade" Middaugh on June 4, 2023.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Swartzendruber Middaugh, whom he married on August 12, 1998; his mother, Jeri Fete Middaugh; three step-children, Rocky (Courtney) Shanower of Sugarcreek, Sarah (Scott) Whiddon of Dover, and Edward (Kayla) Shanower of Canton; his grandchildren, Rigsby and Wilde Shanower, Silas, Scenic, and Selah Whiddon; two sisters, Lisa (Randy) Immel, and Mandy Donley; his nieces and nephews, Nick (Jana) Immel, Tyler (Kate) Immel, Luke (Charity) Immel, Amber (Austin) Bane, Baillie (Timothy) Schlabach, Wyatt Donely; along with several great-nieces and nephews.
In honoring Steve's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. To sign an online guestbook, visit the obituary link on the funeral home's website. A celebration of life will be held in the future for family and friends.
