Stone Creek, Ohio

Susan J. Appleby, 76, of Stone Creek passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 25, 2025.

Born on December 24, 1948 in Dover she was a daughter of the late John and Grace Steinebrey Allen. Susan was also preceded in death by her husband, Verle "Red" Appleby on May 19, 2020; infant daughter, Tracy Lynn Weigand; and sister, Melanie Boyer.

Her career was highlighted by her joy in working on her mini-farm, where she took pride in selling fresh eggs and garden produce at local farmer markets and to local buyers. Susan found joy in spending quality time with her family. She cherished her moments spent at Salt Fork Lake, where she made many treasured memories with her loved ones. Gardening was another of Susan's great passions; she delighted in cultivating both flowers and vegetables, sharing the beauty and bounty of her labor with others. In her younger years, she was also actively involved in showing horses.

Susan is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Mike) Evans of Centerburg, and her brothers, Tim (Diana) Allen of Indiana and John (Fern) Allen of Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Kylie and Isabel, and her beloved cat, CoCo.
