Susan E. "Susie" Flynn Hawk

Susan E. “Susie” (Flynn) Hawk, 68, of Dover passed away at the Community Hospice House on Saturday, June 23, 2018.

Born on July 21, 1949 in Sharon, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Charles “Chuck” of Dover and the late Helen (Reese) Flynn.

Susie graduated from Dover High School with the class of 1967. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Ohio State University where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. Susie later received her master's degree in education from Ashland University. She started her 35 year teaching career in South San Antonio, Texas. She also taught art at Tuscarawas Central Catholic, Garaway, and Tusky Valley. She retired from Dover High School where she taught for 31 years, and was a favorite teacher to many.

Susie was a former board member of the Tuscarawas Center of the Arts, member of the OEA and NEA.

She will be sadly missed by her father; Chuck; her beloved children, Sarah (John) Wolfe of Dover and Jake Hawk of Dover; sister, Georgia (Dan) Banks of Blacklick, Ohio; brother, David (Renee) Flynn of Bath Township. She also leaves behind her two grandsons, whom she adored; Jack and Jamey Wolfe of Dover; nieces and nephews, Chuck (Marlana) Banks, Dan (Holly) Banks, Evan (Teresa) Flynn, and Kyle and Grace Flynn; along with her great- nieces and nephew; Kate and Mollie Banks, Daniel and Chelsea Banks.

Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 2-5 pm. A celebration of Susie’s life will take place at the funeral home on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Tom Daniels officiating.
