Susan Mae Vance Troyer, 61, of Dover and a former resident of New Philadelphia and Dundee, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003 in her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born June26, 1942 in New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Clive and Thelma Jane Ervin Vance.
She loved being outdoors, especially in the snow, and also enjoyed camping and fishing. She was a bargain shopper and always had fun at garage and yard sales. Susan had a knack for restoring antique furniture, stripping each piece down and bringing back the beauty with a new finish.
Her loving husband of 22 years, George A. Troyer, died April 20, 2002.
Survivors include: eight children; Vickie (Ronald) Eberly of Dundee, Johnny Lee Smith of Dover, William Smith of Dover, Kevin Smith and his companion Loretta Troyer of Midvale, Ronald (Rhonda) Smith , Larry (Beth) Smith, Holly (Robert) Sommers, Jr., and Don “Weeble” (Melissa) Smith all of New Philadelphia, 23 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, two brothers; Larry (Carol) Vance of New Philadelphia and Tom (Delma)Vance of Dover, and a sister; Connie (William) West of New Philadelphia.
In addition to her parents and husband, Susan was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Friday, July 25, at 11:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, New Philadelphia with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park in New Phila. Friends may call in the funeral home on Thursday from 6-9 p.m.
