Sylvia B. Wilson

Sylvia B. Wilson, 89, of Dover passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born November 30, 1927 in New York, New York she was a daughter of the late Ethelbert Macdonald and Gladys Russell Bacon. Sylvia was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Wilson on July 14, 2015; brother, Richard Bacon; sister, Barbara Neblett and step-mother, Helen Woolsey Bacon.

She attended the former Western College for Women, where she met and fell in love with her future husband, Charles. Sylvia eventually received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Kent State University, and was employed at Dover City Schools as an Elementary Teacher for many years. Sylvia was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Philadelphia, where she served as a Deacon and Elder. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Bible Study Club and the College Club.

A wonderful and loving mother and grandmother, Sylvia will be sadly missed by her six children, Charles (Tong-Ching) Wilson of New York, New York, Linda (Roger) Corpman of Mineral City, Jeanette (Joe) Banks of Denver, Colorado, Roy (Brenda) Wilson, also of Denver, Steven (Michelle) Wilson of Chicago, Illinois, and Amy (Chris) Swartz of Dover; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren (with two on the way) and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 19th at 1:30 pm in the First Presbyterian Church at New Philadelphia with Rev. Hugh B. Berry officiating. Interment will be at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Sunday from 2-5 pm.
