Sylvia I. Beitzel, 65, of Mineral City, died Tuesday, Mar. 1, 2005, in her home, following an apparent heart attack.
Born Aug. 20, 1939 in Port Washington, she was a daughter of the late Alvin and Adeline Head Smart. She attended school in Zoar and was wed to Tommy Beitzel. Sylvia retired from Century Products, Massillon following twenty-five years of service. She attended Mineral City United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Lady Eagles in Sandyville. Most importantly, she was a loving wife mother and grandmother.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Roger L. and Amy Chaudrue Beitzel of New Philadelphia; two grandchildren, Mara and Tommy Beitzel; four sisters, Zela Kise and Edie Triplett, both of Port Washington, Barbara Bryant of Georgia, and Virginia Duvall of Dover; four brothers, Alvin Smart Jr. of Newcomerstown, Bobby Joe Smart of Tuscarawas, Raymond Smart of West Lafayette, Otto and Fred Smart, both of Port Washington; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy, in 1991; six brothers, Howard and Leonard Smart, who were both infants when they died, and Clayton, Frank, Elmer and Harry Smart.
Sylvia�(TM)s life will be celebrated in a service Saturday at 1:30 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia. Immediately following the service, there will be a reception in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, 831 Boulevard, Dover. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
