Sylvia J. Locker

Sylvia J. Locker, 85, of Somerdale passed away on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 following a brief illness.

Born June 17, 1926 in Somerdale, Ohio she was the daughter of the late James and Clara Miller Hardwidge. She attended Dover High School. In August of 1956, she married the love of her life, Russell H. Locker, who preceded her in death on September 14, 1998. She was also preceded in death by three sisters; Georgia McCreery, Mary Hardwidge, Flora Marie Mullins; three brothers, Charles, Hughie and Frederick Hardwidge; her son in-law, Mike Widder; and an infant daughter.

After 25 years of service, Sylvia retired from East Sparta Ceramic Tile in 1972. She was an animal lover and cherished many pets throughout her life. She will always be remembered as a wonderful caregiver and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter; Linda Widder of Bolivar; son, Jim (Donna) Strother of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Kevin (Anna) Widder of Beach City, Kim (Tom) Ness of Michigan, Kari (Eric) Kinsey of Dover; six great-grandchildren, Jordan and Kattie Ness of Michigan, Allyson and Adam Widder of Beach City, Brooke and Lauren Kinsey of Dover; sister, Emma Myers of Dover, along with many nieces and nephews
.
In honoring Sylvia's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. A graveside service will take place at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 12:00 pm with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Following the service, a meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
