Thelma B. Shough, 94, of Dover died Sunday, October 1, 2000 at Park Village Health Care Center following a brief illness.
She was a retired teacher, having taught at Dover and Baltic Schools.
Born October 31, 1905 in Columbus she was a daughter of the late William and Susan Kline Baldwin.
She was a graduate of Miami University at Oxford, Ohio, and attended Ohio State University, Kent State University, Harvard University and Tufts University in Boston. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Dover serving on its Missionary and Women's societies. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, American Association of University Women, Women's Study Club and the Chestnut Society. She was a long time supporter of the Stark County Wilderness Center and a member of the Fort Laurens Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also served on the board which established the Senior Citizens of Tuscarawas County and the Salvation Army.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband W. Wren Shough who died on December 24, 1984.
She is survived by a son: Michael Shough of San Francisco, California
Sister-in-law: Dottie Chandler of Springfield, Ohio
Daughter-in-law: Carol G. Shough of Columbia, South Carolina
Nephew: Robert M. Baldwin of Dayton, Ohio
3 grandchildren and 3 great granddaughters
She was also preceded in death by a son: Peter Shough
Brother: W.R. Baldwin
Daughter-in-law: Barbara K. Shough
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2000 at 11:00 am in the First United Methodist Church at Dover with Dr. David Oliver officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover on Wednesday from 6-8 pm.
