Thelma I. Mahaffey, 80, of Belpre, and a former New Philadelphia resident, died Wednesday, September 25, 2002 in her home.

Born October 5, 1921 in Stone Creek, she was daughter of the late James & Alva Bennington Hodkinson.

Thelma was a member of the Faith Cathedral in New Philadelphia.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond L. Mahaffey.

Survivors include: nine children; Raymond “Jim” Mahaffey of New Philadelphia, Betty Meek of Dover, Alberta Thornton of Belpre, Linda Garabrandt of Newcomerstown, John Mahaffey of Uhrichsville, Randy Mahaffey of New Philadelphia, Cathy Howell of Belpre, Darlene Mahaffey of New Philadelphia, & Danni Smith of Dennison, a sister, Betty Carpenter of Dover, brother, Robert Hosdkinson of Roswell, 22 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Thelma was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother, two children and one great grandchild.

Cremation has taken place. Due to the renovations at Toland-Herzig�(TM)s New Philadelphia location, a memorial service will be held Saturday, September 28, at 11:00 in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Pastor Russ Rodojev officiating.
