Thelma M. Mason, 86, of Dover, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005 in the Park Village Health Care Center following a courageous battle with heart disease.
Born March 10, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Albert M. and Bernice M. Parcell Stringer.
She retired in 1980 from Union Hospital where she had worked for 25 years in the Dietary department.
Thelma remained active and kept ties with friends from the hospital as a member of the Union Hospital Retirees. Over the years she enjoyed bowling in area leagues. She was especially gifted with her hands and had a talent for crocheting beautiful keepsakes for her family and friends.
She will be sadly missed by surviving family that includes: two sons; David (Alma) Mason of New Philadelphia and Ray (Faith Ann) Mason of Dover; a daughter Jade (Ray) Ulrich of Dover; brother, Jerry (Marlene) Stringer of Dover, eight grandchildren, Marcia (John) Miller, Tammy (David) Dyer, Ed Mason, Rae Ann Demattio, Chella (Tim) Wherley, Abby (Tim) Donaldson, Amanda (Josiah) Miller and Lance Ulrich; 12 great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Opal Stringer of Dover.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by a brother, George Stringer and a sister, Wanda Espenschied.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 246 East High Avenue, New Phila., with her son-in-law, Rev. Ray Ulrich officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at Toland-Herzig�(TM)s New Philadelphia location on Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
