Thelma M. Prosser, 80, of Dover, died Wednesday, November 14, 2007 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover.
Born December 19, 1926 at Canton, she was the daughter of the late Paul L. and Gladys P. Fuller Borden.
Though she had worked for a time with her family at Meyer(TM)s Lake and had also been employed by the former LaFountain(TM)s variety store in New Philadelphia, she took pride in the fact that she was a homemaker first and foremost. She enjoyed doing housework, was a great cook, and loved being around and being able to spend quality time with family and friends.
She attended New Philadelphia High School and always looked forward to reunions and outings with her classmates. Later in life she discovered the joy of traveling, but perhaps the activity she liked most was playing Bingo with her husband, the late Donald E. Prosser, who died May 29, 2006. Together the two were playing Bingo 2 and 3 nights a week and, along the way, established a network of great friends who enjoyed the game as well.
Thelma is survived by: a daughter, Sharon (Bruce) Taylor of New Philadelphia; son, Paul David (Cathy) Prosser of Canton; seven grandchildren, Mike (Eileen) Taylor, Amy (Ned) Nicholson, Paul (Heather) May, Michell (Mark) Hoover, Jennifer (Eric) Neitz, Shannon (Matthew) DiLauro, and Shandra Stewart; 14 great grandchildren; along with loving nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents and husband, a daughter, Marsha Porter, preceded Thelma in death.
A funeral service that celebrates Thelma(TM)s life will be held Saturday, November 17, at 11:00 a.m. in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Following the burial, a meal will be served in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard.
Friends may call in the funeral home on Friday from 6-9 p.m.
Those unable to attend or wishing to share a fond memory may sign the online register book for Thelma by visiting the obituaries link on the funeral home(TM)s website.
The family suggests that memorial gifts be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. 3rd Street, Dover.
