Thomas A. "Tom" Jones, 59, of Dover died Friday, May 20, 2016 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born December 3, 1956 in Dover he was a son of William and Gloria Lewis Jones of Dover. He was a 1976 graduate of Dover High School and retired in 2009 with 32 years, and over 3 million miles, of accident free driving for Associated Grocers, AGA Gasses, Liquid Carbonic, Prax Air and Roadway Express. Following his retirement, Tom was an Instructor and CDL Examiner at Tri-C in Euclid, Lattavo Brothers in Canton and Atlas CDL Testing in Massillon. He was also a Motorcycle Examiner and Instructor for Motorcycle Ohio at Buckeye Career Center. Tom was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ of Dover, and was also an active member of First Christian Church in Dover, Tri County Model A Association, Teamsters Local in Akron and was a founding member of the Thunder Valley Warriors Chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association. Tom was a loving, devoted husband and dedicated to his daughters and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Tom is survived by his wife of 37 years, Annette Stephan Jones whom he married on February 10, 1979; daughters, Jackie (Dale) Kandel of Dover, Tina (Ben) Armstrong of Rush Twp.; grandchildren, Kaylee and Mackenzie Kandel, Mason and Max Armstrong and mother in law, Erma Stephan.
Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Rick Jones and father in law, Carl Stephan.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 24 at 1:00 pm in the First Christian Church at Dover with Chris Mulpas officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Friends can call at the church two hours prior to the service on Tuesday. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements.
