Thomas R. “Tom” Abrahamson, age 69, of Dover, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025, in his home with his loving wife at his side. Tom had battled pancreatic cancer.

Born March 27, 1956, in Oak Lawn, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, he was the son of the late David and Terry (D’Arcy) Abrahamson. Tom graduated from Oak Lawn Community High School and went on to serve honorably with the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he participated in Nicaraguan rescue operations, served in Iceland, and also played Olympic level basketball. Following his service time, Tom studied at the University of Illinois, earning a bachelor’s degree. On December 10, 1990, he married the former Jocelyn G. Hansen, who survives; the couple have been together since 1986.

Tom was employed by General Electric in Strongsville, and Stiles Machinery in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Twelve years ago, he took the position of plant manager of Paramont Machine in New Philadelphia, and he and Jocelyn moved to Tuscarawas County. Tom retired from Paramont, and later went to work for Ohio Gratings, T.P.I. Division in Canton.

He participated in athletics all of his life and especially enjoyed playing golf; Oak Shadows Golf Club was his favorite local course. Tom and Jocelyn walked and biked together, and followed the Guardians and the Akron RubberDucks; they never missed a Ducks home game. Tom and Jocelyn also liked to spend time simply relaxing on their patio.

Tom will be dearly missed by Jocelyn. Other survivors include his two sisters, his two brothers, and his nieces and nephews.

Honoring Tom’s wishes, he will be cremated, and there will be no visitation or ceremony.
