Thomas D. Oliver, 44, of Dover died suddenly from an apparent heart attack on Tuesday, September 17, 2013.
Born January 2, 1969 in Dover he was a son of Karen Brannon Levengood of Mineral City and the late David L. Oliver.
Tom was a 1987 graduate of Tusky Valley High School and was employed at GE in Dover where he was a Fabrication Mechanic and was also the Shop Steward. He was a member of the Goshen Community Church of the Nazarene. Tom spent his entire life serving others through his work with the Mineral City Fire Department. At age 14 he was a Junior Fireman and worked his way up through the years to become Fire Chief from 1998 to 2002. He was a great listener who was always helping others with his sound advice. Tom also loved his family, and enjoyed nothing more than spending quality time with them.
A hard working and dedicated husband, father, son and brother, Tom will be sadly missed by his wife, Sally Kugler Oliver whom he married on July 14, 2007; children, Kurtis Oliver of Colorado, Katlyn, Kasadie and Adam Oliver all of Dover; brother, Tim (Frances) Oliver of New Philadelphia and sister, Tonya Oliver of Mineral City.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 21 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Lee Randolph officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends can call at the funeral home on Friday (tonight) from 5-8 pm with a firemen's service, conducted by the Mineral City Fire Department starting at 4:30.
