Thomas E. Miller, 80, of New Philadelphia died suddenly on Saturday, February 10, 2007.
Born August 14, 1926 in Canton, Ohio he was a son of the late Ralph and Hazel See Miller.
He retired from the Norfolk and Southern Railroad after 37 years of service.
A wonderful husband, father and grandfather, Thomas was always a tremendous help to all of his family. Whether he was fixing something around the house or working with his son Gary building the tree-farm business, Thomas�(TM) dedication to his family was unparalleled. When he wasn�(TM)t helping his family, he enjoyed being outdoors, working in his yard and watching NASCAR. His love of racing was instilled earlier in his life by running his own car at the Fairgrounds, Strasburg and Midvale Speedway. Thomas was a member of First United Church of Christ in Canton and was a Navy veteran of WW II having served on the USS Rankin in the Pacific theatre.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Norma Lenarz Miller with whom he would have celebrated 47 years of marriage on May 14, 2007.
He is also survived by five children, Terry (Diane) Andrews of Oregon, Dan (Joyce) Andrews of Dover, Cindy (Keith) Hay of Dover, Thomas (Anna) Miller of New Philadelphia and Gary Miller of Tippecanoe; four sisters, Claudia Clark of Canton, Mary (Richard) Kaser of Sugarcreek, Martha Rabatin of N. Canton and Shirley France of Virginia; 10 grandchildren, Jason, Jeffrey and Nichole Andrews, Logan Andrews, Amy Miller Kellogg, Chad Miller, Cody and Casey Hay, Terrin and Gabby Miller; three great grandchildren, Makia, Koda and Rollin Miller.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Shutt and Myra Gilnett.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with Rev. Jim Borton officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends can call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 pm.
