Thomas E. “Ted” Dayton, 67, of Strasburg died peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 18, 2018.
Born September 27, 1950 in Dover, he was a son of the late Clyde and Gladys Heid Dayton. Ted was also preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Mitchell; sister, Joan Breniser and brother, Richard Dayton.
Ted was a long-time employee of the former Teter’s IGA, and had also worked at Wayne-Dalton in Mt. Hope and the Tuscarawas County Sherriff’s Department. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg, and enjoyed camping, woodcarving, woodworking and remodeling houses. Ted loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
A wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather, Ted will be sadly missed by his wife of 44 years, Shari J. Pulley Dayton whom he married on August 25, 1973; daughter, Mandy (Charles) Porter of Strasburg; grandchildren, Chastian, Richard, CG, Tessa, Vidalia and Wyema; great-grandchildren, Landon, Easton and Ellie.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23 at 2:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Jason Rissler officiating.
