Thomas H. ''Tom'' Conwell, 79, of Dover, died Saturday, February 23, 2002 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover.
Tom spent 25 years working as an Industrial Arts teacher at Dover High School.
Born May 22, 1922 at Uhrichsville, he was son of the late Joseph R. & Mary F. Harden Conwell.
Tom was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Dover. A graduate of Gnadenhutten-Clay High School, he went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree from Kent State University and earned his Masters from the Ohio State University. He was a member of the Tuscarawas County, Ohio and national retired teacher's associations.
He was a proud veteran of the Navy who served during World War II, was member of the Dover American Legion and VFW posts and Sons of the Revolution.
Tom was involved in Masonic service as a member of the Blue Lodge in Gnadenhutten and the Scottish Rite of Canton.
A noted history buff, he was also a longtime member of the Dover Historical Society.
Tom is survived by his wife, Doris Bethel Conwell, whom he wed on September 6, 1947.
Other survivors include: son; Joe Conwell of Lexington, Kentucky, daughter; Marian Lyons of Dover and grandchildren; Brandon and Andrea Lyons of Dover.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 26 at 1:30pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with the Rev. Dr. David Oliver and Rev. Joseph Glassner officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8pm.
