Timothy F. "Tim" Beans, age 62, of Dover, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, in Park Village Health Care Center, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born June 2, 1950, at Dover, he was a son of Marvin F. Beans of New Philadelphia, and the late Bonnie Reynolds Beans. As a youth, Tim worked for the former Goshen Dairy Co., and as a service station attendant. He graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1968, and entered the service of his country in the United States Navy. Following his discharge, Tim was employed by General Telephone & Electronics for some thirty years, from which he retired. He installed telephones in many, many area homes. Tim thoroughly enjoyed work he seldom missed a day in his life, and in his retirement was employed by Marlowe's N.C.S. until illness made it just too difficult.
Tim was baptized in the First Baptist Church at New Philadelphia in 1960, and re-dedicated his life to the Lord in 2009. He was a faithful member of the New Life Church of God at Dover, attending church up until a few short weeks ago. Tim loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles, owning several over the years, and riding with his buddies. He liked watching the races at Midvale and was a fan of NASCAR as well. Additionally, Tim was a model railroader and collector of model trains.
In addition to his father, Tim is survived by his wife, Karel Kittle Beans, whom he married on October 17, 1981 (Sweetest Day); his daughter, Suzanne Beans of Dover; his sister, Diane Murphy of New Philadelphia; his brother, Ron (Dorraine) Beans, also of New Philadelphia; his step-mother, Margaret "Boots" Beans; several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, Tim will be cremated. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 19, at 11 a.m., in the New Life Church of God at Dover; Dana Stoneking will officiate. Those attending are encouraged to wear blue jeans and Harley gear and to ride their bikes if they are able. Immediately following the service, there will be a luncheon in the church's Fellowship Hall. There will be a memorial visitation, a time to pay respects and share memories, Monday, June 18, 5 8 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover. To sign an online guestbook and share a fond memory of Tim, please visit the Obituaries & Flowers link on the funeral home's website.
